Balance Sheet Management (Analyst / Manager)

We have a series of exciting opportunities for someone to join the newly created Balance Sheet Management Division of one of the UK’s leading mid-sized Building Societies. The team’s purpose is to enable safe and sustainable growth through balanced risk/reward evaluation, ensuring decisions are made through customer, colleague and commercial lenses. The role will be based in the South West and they are happy for the role holder to work from home as much as is required to make the logistics work

Role Description

  • Assisting the team head and colleagues in the research and implementation of new and emerging regulation and best practice
  • Development and maintenance of appropriate systems, models (in-line with Model Governance standards) processes and controls to monitor and quantify BSM risk, incorporating the impact of stress scenarios
  • Produce accurate and timely Management Information (MI) with value adding commentary for discussion at the Finance, Executive Risk, Board Risk and Board Committees
  • Maintaining a general awareness of the macroeconomic environment
  • Recommend system/process enhancements to maximize efficiencies in line with Operational Excellence principals

Role Requirements

  • Educated to a degree level
  • A good understanding of the balance sheet, profit and cash flow linkages throughout the organisation
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the current regulatory landscape, macroeconomic environment, and financial risk management techniques
  • Able to exercise appropriate judgment when analysing and filtering information
  • Able to research and interpret complex regulatory requirements and make recommendations to the team head regarding the approach to be taken
