One of the UK’s leading challenger banks has mandated us exclusively to find them a new Head of Treasury. The role will be based in central London and responsible for managing a small team. Reporting to the CFO, the role holder will play a big part in defining the bank’s Balance Sheet strategy, lead others performing BSM activities, and play a key role in providing deposit and lending functionality to both retail and corporate customers
Role Description
- Manage the liquidity, interest rate and foreign exchange risk of the bank, proposing and implementing appropriate hedging strategies
- Responsible for the annual refresh of the ILAAP, ICAAP, Recovery and Resolution plans as well as relevant stress testing, scenario analysis and monitoring
- Managing the relationship with the Bank of England and counterparties in the banking sector
- Recommend the size, structure and component investments of the bank’s liquidity portfolio as well as managing the day to day operations
- Responsibility for the strategic funding of the firm’s operations as well as capital planning
- Identifying, recommending and executing transactions that will add value to the Bank including funding and investment opportunities that will improve NIM
- Working with the Regulatory and second line Risk teams, undertake prudential regulatory surveillance reviews and provide reports on new and emerging prudential regulation relevant to the bank
- Managing the Asset Liability Committee
Role Requirements
- Significant experience of working within a UK bank supporting treasury, balance sheet and prudential risk management activities, ideally in a first line capacity
- Have a familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements relating to prudential risk, including liquidity, capital, market risk and interest rate risk
- Able to provide insight and advice on strategic issues on balance sheet management and the impact upon cost and value of funds provided to the other Banking departments
- High level of general market risk knowledge
- Self-starter with experience building or growing a function in the past would be advantageous
- Deal-doing, value-adding mentality with market relationships
