Leading challenger bank is recruiting due to a wider team restructure and internal secondments and needs an experienced treasury professional to lead the balance sheet management team for 6 months. This is a mature challenger bank and further opportunities could present themselves.
Role Description
- The Head of Balance Sheet Management leads the development of BSM across the Group, covering ALM and Liquidity & Funding Risk. This high-impact role is central to optimising the balance sheet, managing financial risk and driving improved returns. You’ll shape risk and performance outcomes across the Group, own key financial risk strategies, and ensure a strong control environment while supporting the broader treasury and business strategy. Leading a team of around 10 treasury professionals, you’ll build a collaborative, high-performing culture where people can thrive. You will also chair the Balance Sheet Working Group and pre-ALCO, attend ALCO, present at key committees, and sit on the Treasury Leadership Team.
Role Requirements
- Ideally a qualification in Treasury (CertBALM or ACT) or Accountancy, though not essential
- Experience of interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB) – measurement and or reporting
- Expertise across Liquidity and funding, with extensive knowledge of constructing an ILAAP
- Experience of customer behaviour of products from the UK banking industry
- Direct or indirect experience of other related risks, such as, Capital Risk (and contribution to the ICAAP), basis risk, counterparty credit risk
- Ability to present information, written and verbal and can hold challenging conversations at EXCo and board level
